General Information to PalDat

PalDat is a palynological database designed by the Department of Palynology and Structural Botany at the Institute of Botany, University Vienna.
The database was developed by Martina WEBER and Ralf BUCHNER in the course of the project "Entwicklung und Aufbau einer computergestützten, relationalen Pollen-Datenbank mittels digitaler Bildverarbeitung" in 1997. The aim was to catalogue the large amount of palynological data from a variety of plant families accumulated by the department through many years.
Finally, by the request of many people interested in palynology, this homepage was setup to share photographs and data with the world-wide community of researchers.

From 2005 onwards, the website www.paldat.org is run by the newly founded "Society for the Promotion of Palynological Research in Austria". From this time www.paldat.org is an official publication of the "Society for the Promotion of Palynological Research in Austria".
